A wild tale of mistaken identity set during the Nazi occupation of Greece and starring the great Thanasis Vengos. Thanasis is called upon, during the Occupation, to testify at the trial of a tavern owner accused of serving cat meat to his customers. He too is accused of perjury and imprisoned with some resistance fighters. The resistance fighters escape, but Thanasis remains in his cell. He is accused of being Ivan, the notorious ringleader of certain revolutionaries.

The feelings of a young lady for a Pontian Greek, whom his fellow countrymen call "the disgrace of Pontus", is obvious to everyone. Kostikas, however, doesn't notice her feelings because his mind is elsewhere. He is trying to become the president of the football team of New Pontus, in order to take the place of Giorikas, who happens to be in love with the lady in question.

The wife of a merchant, a teacher and a seventeen-year old boy try to survive, following the column of prisoners into the depths of Asia Minor.

Young Giannis escapes from prison and hides in a deserted factory, with the dream of traveling far away. At the factory, a group of university students rehearse Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, and a girl from the group discovers him. The students accept him into their group, offering him a part in the play as well. One night, three young men try to destroy the props for the theatrical performance, and Giannis tries to stop them, ending up back in prison. The students manage to get him out of jail, and he embarks on a ship and leaves far away.

Sifis is fed up with the smog in central Athens and decides with his family to move to the countryside to get some fresh air. But there, he gets hit by radiation from the Chornobyl nuclear reactor leak. When he decides to return to Athens to buy supplies, the side effects of the radiation begin to take effect, and not only does his hair fall out and he becomes bald, but he also becomes a laughing stock because of a tail that grows out of his backside.

Members of an otherwise typical New York Brooklyn family are "tortured" by a kind of hereditary madness. In the meantime, the adopted nephew Mortimer tries to do everything to protect his two aunts, who indulge in a variety of dangerous acts, such as poisoning lonely and homeless elderly people, and burying them in the basement of their house. When another niece, Jonathan, arrives, the situation will spiral out of control. With Greece about to join the EEC, the folks in a village are split: the right-wing president, Nomass, is an ardent supporter of accession, the left-wing secretary Leonidas is categorically opposed, and the socialist Michalis has some doubts. In addition to their common concerns, they are also preoccupied with the charms of the voluptuous and provocative widow Margarita. However, when they go down to Athens to sell their harvest and try to get decent prices for their oranges, they find that all the authorities are mocking them. The farmers find them sticks.

Two parallel stories complement each other. The first recounts the investigation of a journalist and an actress who, through a radio program, attempt to identify parallels between terrorist acts of the present and the past. The second takes us back to 1948 and describes the events that led to the murder of American journalist George Polk in Thessaloniki, guided by the investigation of the two protagonists and the testimonies of various individuals.

The well-known abbot Akakios is in danger of losing the monastery's best estate, which the green mayor of the neighboring town wants to seize in order to turn it into a cultural center. Unable to defend himself in any other way, he turns to his well-known former nuns and current friends, so that they can all work together to trap and expose the mayor, in order to make him forget about his claim to the estate. So he goes down to the city and starts looking for them...
