The story of boys who were condemned to the severe reformatory regime in a French penal ‘colony’. It’s run by a former prison warden, based on ‘rehabilitattion’ trough manual labor and strict discipline. Young Reynard, a novice to crime and juvenile detention, meets horrible hardened villains and sadistic staff as well as people with some heart among fellow inmates and their supposed educators.

Algeria. Benjamin, Kateb and Antoine are three teenagers from three religious backgrounds who never should have met. But they share the same passion for football and the same disregard for the disapproving looks which their unusual friendship draws.

Corruption on the boxing circuit at the turn of the century provides the basis of this French drama. The story centers on a talented young fighter, a logger that Abel Ginoux and his Italian partner Zipolino, a crooked doctor, discover during a fight in a woodland town. The logger, Passe Partout, is in a fight with Ginoux's best fighter and ends up accidentally killing the pugilist. Ever the opportunist, Ginoux lures Partout into the ring to replace the late fighter. Partout proves to be the classic provincial innocent with high, rugged ideals and little knowledge about the modern world. Ginoux takes him to town for the first time and the logger is delighted to discover amenities such as electricity and silent films. He soon falls in love with the beauteous Camille who works in her late father's cafe with her mother. Her father made many of the films, most of which are boxing matches, because he believed that the presence of a camera rendered a fight unfixable.

Mehdi, 17, is sentenced to perform hours of community service for a minor offense. He arrives in Auvergne where he must serve his sentence - six weeks with a taciturn lumberjack, Abel Vagnier, owner of a sawmill which he operates alone with Tonton, a former wrestler. Abel, overwhelmed, accepts the placement of Mehdi, who discovers work, the countryside and life the hard way, the shock is harsh. He finds himself immersed in a universe where his bearings no longer apply. Communication, initially difficult, is slowly established despite everyone's failings...

During the celebration of her Champagne house's centenary, Mrs. Dupaquier is murdered in her own cellars. The investigation is entrusted to the energetic Captain Sofia Guerini and the more reserved Gendarme Mathieu Delorme, a duo who have grown fond of each other after working together on several cases. Faced with the maze of tunnels connecting the cellars and the mysterious inscription left by the murderer, they must call on Bastien Keller, a geologist who specializes in the region. For the purposes of the investigation, Keller is exceptionally released from prison, where he is being held for violating his probation—he is under investigation for endangering his employees during underground work. One of the victims is still in a coma: Lucie, Sofia's fiancée. As a motive for revenge emerges, Sofia and Keller must put aside their differences to prevent further murders.
