Choi Woo-hyeok

Seo-hyun is an ordinary housewife in her late thirties with a ten-year-old son and a successful architect husband. For her, life is a series of banal routines. Her sheltered life is suddenly threatened with the appearance of Woo-in, her much younger sister's attractive new fiancé.

A popular high school student, who is the top student of her class, mysteriously dies. Six of her friends who graduated from the same elementary school attempt to track down the reasons for her death. While the six friends try to find the truth behind her death, they struggle with teenage hardships and academic pressures.

Two men have returned to their hometown (the titular island) from Seoul to bury the father of one of them, but the islanders vehemently refuse their request, triggering memories of their childhood before and during the Korean War.

One rainy night, Sodan's grandmother disappears, only telling her she's going to see a movie. In an effort to track her down Sodan gets a job as a box office attendant at the local theater. But there's more to this run down cinema than meets the eye.
