Rodzina zastępcza was a popular Polish primetime comedy series broadcast on Polsat from February 23, 1999 to December 20, 2009. In 2004 the title was changed to Rodzina zastępcza plus and the series got longer episodes, as well as more regular characters and locations. The series told the story of the Kwiatkowski family, Anka and Jacek, their biological children Majka and Filip, as well as three children they adopted one day - Eliza, Zosia and Romek.
A story of a young woman arrested by police on the day of her wedding for embezzlement, and promptly sentenced to life. She is already pregnant and has her baby in prison. Immediately after birth they are separated and only later Klara finds out that the child had a spine injury in an orphanage. The four sequences in the film cover four days in a life of young Warsaw lad in September 1938, 1939, 1943 and 1944. In the first sequence Jurek decides not to study in the Sorbonne but enlists in a Polish military school instead. In the second sequence the war starts and Warsaw is occupied.
