Biography
Nina Hedenius (Born 1942 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish filmmaker. She started out as a still photographer, then later became a documentary filmmaker, where she usually does everything; idea, script, production, photography, direction and editing.
Known For
One year in the life of Ragnar, who lives in Kestina, in the forests of Dalecarlia. The film portrays the everyday life of the retired forest worker without any narration. The life of this lonely man is regulated by the changing of the seasons and the weather just like in times past.

The film is based on a quote by the Danish poet Sören Kierkegaard - "Get married and you regret it. Don't get married, you'll regret it too. Marry or not marry, you will regret both?" Two people are in a crisis in their relationship and meet again in their rented summer cottage.

Hedenius was one of the first students at Christer Strömholm's photography school but then dropped out, which was the start of 60 years of persevering film production about life in stillness, vibrant moments and the enchantment of everyday life. Later on she reluctantly let the filmmaker and photographer Fredrik Wenzel into her home, who draws a tender and close portrait of one of the great filmmakers of our time.
