Kumiko Okae (岡江 久美子, Okae Kumiko, 23 August 1956 – 23 April 2020) was a Japanese actress, talent and moderator. She was born in Setagaya, Tokyo. At the time of her death she was affiliated with Staff-up. Her real name was Kumiko Ōwada (大和田 久美子, Ōwada Kumiko). Her husband is actor Baku Ohwada (大和田 獏), and her daughter is actress and talent Miho Ohwada (大和田 美帆). Her brother-in-law is actor Shinya Ohwada (大和田 美智子).

SMAP×SMAP was an ongoing weekly Japanese variety show on Kansai TV and Fuji TV starring the members of SMAP. The show began on April 15, 1996 and it aired from 22:00 to 22:54 every Monday. The show's usual ratings were higher than 20%, which is considered high since most variety shows range from 10-20%. Each episode begins a variety of skits, comedic performances, and/or games. These are followed by Bistro SMAP, in which the SMAP members compete against each other to impress celebrity judges with their gourmet cooking. Last is a musical performance by SMAP which may include celebrity guests, as well.

The body of Kazuyoshi Kawagishi, a construction company worker, is discovered stabbed to death in Shinjuku Central Park in Tokyo. Detective Masanao Ushio of Shinjuku West PD begins an investigation and finds that the murdered Kawagishi was an honest person who didn't have any troubles. Kawagishi worked for a company in Kofu City in Yamanashi, leaving behind his wife and daughter on Awaji Island in Hyogo. He seems to have started working as a laborer 3 years ago, having fallen on hard times when the company went bankrupt. Saeko Kawamura, Ushio's reporter friend, calls him wanting to talk about the case. According to Saeko, Kawagishi was one of the survivors of the "bus hijack arson case" that happened three years ago.
