Biography
Tara Nicole LaRosa is an American mixed martial artist and grappler whose most high-profile successes occurred while competing in BodogFight, where she became the first and only BodogFight Women's Bantamweight (135 lbs) Champion. She later defeated HOOKnSHOOT 125-pound champion Cody Welchlin in a non-title bout at a HOOKnSHOOT/BodogFight co-sponsored event. LaRosa has spent most of her career competing at bantamweight, although her natural weight class is the flyweight division. She dominated the bantamweight division during her seven years in it, and became a flyweight in 2009. Per Fight Matrix, she was #1 at flyweight between 2010 and 2012. She holds wins over top mixed martial arts fighters such as Amanda Buckner, Kelly Kobold, Shayna Baszler, Alexis Davis, Julie Kedzie, Sally Krumdiack and Takayo Hashi.

Invicta President Shannon Knapp has announced that the event would feature the first championship bout for Invicta Fighting Championships. Invicta continued their partnership with JEWELS as Jessica Penne will face unbeaten JEWELS Featherweight Queen (105 lb.) Naho Sugiyama for the Invicta FC Atomweight Championship. Tara LaRosa (127.6 lbs) and Lacey Schuckman (106.2 lbs) failed to make weight at the weigh in. Schuckman was able to get within 1 pound of her 105 weight class limit within the next two hours and was fined 10% of her purse. LaRosa was not able to get within one pound of 125 pounds within two hours and was fined 25% of her purse.

HOOKnSHOOT: BodogFIGHT 2007 Women's Tournament was an MMA event held on November 24, 2007 in Evansville, Indiana, U.S.. Miesha Tate ambitiously entered the BodogFIGHT 2007 Women's Bantamweight Tournament and was knocked out during her second career bout in the semifinals of the same-night tournament. After the loss, she reeled off five consecutive wins, capturing the Freestyle Cage Fighting women's bantamweight title.
