When her village faces destruction due to a new dam, their generational conflict intensifies, revealing the struggle between tradition, identity, and the desire for freedom in a context of historical change.
Flood

A family story of incest, decadence and desolation. Greece, early twentieth century. A bourgeois family is on the verge of breaking up. The mother has abandoned the family, and the father, a retired officer, keeps his three daughters, as well as the illegitimate son of the oldest daughter, confined in the house. After his death, the three sisters live through their personal drama. The eldest, Eleni, imbued with the morals of the time and closely identifying with her father, tries to take his place. The middle one, Maria, representing rebellion, goes off with a captain of the sanitation service, while the youngest, Anna, skating on thin ice through all this, is completely destroyed.

Greece, Russia, USA, Brazil, China, Senegal. Meeting young people in these countries we heard a ‘Rumble’ foretelling an impending explosion. The fall of communism, crisis of capitalism, ecological catastrophes, migration waves, globalization. The new generation is at the forefront, exposed, helpless without being able to envision a more optimistic future. This ‘Rumble’ comes from this young generation. Their words, images, sounds and music compose the notes of an audio-visual symphony entitled: ‘The Rumble of the World’.

In Her Steps

A railway crossing in the middle of nowhere. Two guards: solitary Yiannis who never leaves his post and cool Antonis who goes with the rhythm of the landscape. Every once in a while, a voice announces the passing of a train. The two guards manually lower the bars. Nothing seems to stir their daily routine until love charges in, crushing all certainties.

When fourteen-year-old Myrto learns her father has fled to avoid paying his debts, she kidnaps the son of his business partner whom she blames for bankrupting her father's joiner's workshop. Memories resurface as she wanders through the aisles of the workshop, where she hides her victim between stacks of spruce, oak and ebony.

The director creates a parallel of thirty years of her life (mid-1980s to 2012) and the evolution of her country, Greece. The loss of her lover, revived in archive photographs and 8 mm movies, is the background for her despair facing contemporaneous Greece, seen by her in the streets and viewed on television broadcasts from American and Russian channels.
