Paolo Giorgi and Laura Del Fiore, coincidentally approaching their forties, find themselves sharing the ups and downs of life with growing children, extended families, and a hilarious love story.

In a high school in the outskirts of Rome, it's the last day before the summer holidays. A literature teacher reminisces the past year and wonders what will become of the students he cared for as if they were his children.

An evening at an Italian restaurant. Hosted by tolerant and relaxed Flora, various parties of middle-class people come in -- large and small, young and old, regulars and tourists, married and single -- to dine, converse, argue, celebrate, make confessions; to overhear other people's discussions, to interrupt them, to sing, listen to music, and enjoy life.

Clashing with his father Paolo after coming home late, 17-year-old Marco accuses him of being old and stifling. They time travel to the 1960s, where Paolo will be able to prove his son he too used to be hip.
