A group of landless Hungarian peasants accept work as migrant-laborers on a farm in northern Germany where the wages are good, and the wives and family are allowed to accompany them. Though it is in the midst of World War II, they are relatively well-off. However, they glimpse the treatment accorded to POWs and others who are not so gently treated, and at the conclusion of the year's harvest, they choose to return to Hungary and are quickly swept up in the tides of war. This film is part of a series of films by award-winning, well-respected director Zoltan Fabri who devoted much time and effort chronicling the struggle against fascism.

A farmer receives land from the king and discovers a buried golden mortar. He decides to give it to the king out of gratitude, but his clever daughter warns him that the king will surely want him to bring a corresponding pestle as well. When the king throws the farmer into jail for fraud, he bemoans the fact that he did not listen to his daughter.

Three people from very different walks of life meet at a large construction site. Young, unmarried, self-confident construction manager Linda Hinrichs dedicates herself completely to her work and enjoys living more independently then most women. Daniel, a student works on the construction site to make money during his summer holiday, and impresses Linda with his spontaneous energy and idealism. Brigadier Böwe, an older, divorced man works his way from one construction site to the other and has lost his own personal happiness on the path to developing what was seen as officially suitable social standards. On the way, he rescues the Duchess of Guastalla from assault. She also wants to go to Vienna, as His Majesty Franz II is trying to contest an heir in her favor. With cunning, luck, and dagger, Florian fights his way through a slew of nobility and their secret police.

A top-level meeting of the Eastern secret services is taking place in Prague. Martin, an agent who knows all the tricks of the trade, is tasked with obtaining the minutes of the conference for the West German intelligence service. And he does so via Zimra, his former lover. She is now the right-hand woman of the GDR intelligence chief. A life-threatening assignment, but Martin accepts it. His condition: Zimra is to be taken to the West. The ageing West German spy chief accepts. He has only one goal in mind: to finally defeat his opponent in the East. He coldly plans to use Martin and Zimra for his purposes...

The Time Machine is purchased from an antiques store by a physician from Berlin. Much of the script plays out in one room in the Berlin villa of Dr. Erasmus Beilowski. He and his well-educated friends have an intelligent discussion about the world and the future, with a view to the Time Machine. What to use it for?

Elisabeth Wilms(1905-1981), the baker's wife from Dortmund-Asseln, made more than 150 films from the early 1940s until her death in August 1981. She not only recorded the everyday life of her immediate surroundings, but also life in the bomb-destroyed city of Dortmund and the later reconstruction after 1945 with the camera and thus captured it for posterity. But there are also industrial, commercial and travel films as well as reports in her work.
