Brandon, a surveyor, dreams of building a railway to the west. He sets off with his son, Davy, to survey a route. They discover a new pass which will shave 200 miles off the expected distance, but they are set upon by a party of Cheyenne. One of them, a white renegade with only two fingers on his right hand, kills Brandon and scalps him. Davy is all alone now.

And, he, too, rather than destroy the happiness of his adopted-father, leaves to embark on an Artic voyage that might mean his death. When Terry learns of the sacrifice both Chrystal and Ned are making on behalf of his happiness, he takes Ned's place on the voyage and gets both to pledge that if he does not return, they will marry each other.

Old Mother Grey, often affectionately called the "mother" of the neighborhood, operates a little toy and notion shop. Her store is a popular spot, often attracting local children on their way to school, much to the chagrin of Dan, the handsome, big policeman on the beat, who has to shoo them along. A young newsgirl named Madge is a prominent character in the community formed around the shop. The plot takes a turn when Madge discovers that Mother Grey is an heiress.

Tenderfoot Chauncey Day arrives in the small Southwestern boom town of Rawhide where Jackson Grade, the recorder of deeds, is accumulating his own fortune through falsifying documents. Authorized to offer miner Joel Brand $100,000 for his claim, Grade attempts to pocket $95,000 by bidding only $5,000. When Brand refuses the offer, Grade attempts extortion by faking his own murder at Brand's hands. Then Grade's accomplice Marsh threatens to have Brand arrested until the White Rider appears with proof of Grade's infamy, thus exposing the crooks. Justice served, the Rider reveals himself to be Tenderfoot Chauncey Day and wins the heart of Brand's daughter Jewel.

A young woman is shocked to discover that her mother, who she always believed was a stylish and successful member of upper-crust society, is actually a dance-hall "hostess" at a low-class nightclub. Wanting revenge on her mother, she marries a brutal bootlegger, which causes her mother to do something that turns out to have dire consequences for everybody. This is reportedly a lost film.
