Apostrophes was a live, weekly, literary, prime-time, talk show on French television created and hosted by Bernard Pivot. It ran for fifteen years (724 episodes) from January 10, 1975, to June 22, 1990, and was one of the most watched shows on French television (around 6 million regular viewers). It was broadcast on Friday nights on the channel France 2 (which was called "Antenne 2" from 1975 to 1992). The hourlong show was devoted to books, authors and literature. The format varied between one-on-one interviews with a single author and open discussions between four or five authors.

Bruno loved his job as a middle manager at a paper company, but optimistically views being laid off as an opportunity. After two years of searching for a comparable position, optimism turns to desperation. His wife works two jobs, and their marriage slowly deteriorates as their hold on the middle class slips away. Bruno concocts a grimly audacious plan to identify and kill his fellow job applicants so that he is the only qualified person left.

The latter suggests a test of the past that she would have concealed and proposes to browse together a photo-album of her childhood. Tanguy is 28 years old and still living with his parents. They think it's time he moves out. He doesn't, so they hatch a plan.

During the summer of the year 1610 one of the first telescopes made by Galileo ends up in the hands of Jean Kepler in Prague who at the time was the astronomer of Emperor Rudolp II. Kepler observes the night-sky as nobody has seen it before him. His observation platform becomes the meeting place of Prague's imperial court. In this entourage Kepler separates science from superstition, freedom from intolerance.

The dark years, those of war. This film, which combines fiction and archives, tells the story of the unusual trajectory of a young man from the provinces. Prisoner of war, escaped at the age of 24, he found himself in Vichy, capital of the French state. A convinced Pétainist, he will become a leading resistance fighter.

In 1899, a French military column, led by Captains Julien Chanoine and Paul Voulet, set out to conquer Lake Chad in order to unite the French colonial empire. The two captains were violent and ruthless towards the local populations and their colonial soldiers. The Voulet-Chanoine mission sinks further and further into unknown Niger territory while the lack of food supplies is felt. Little by little, Voulet falls into a megalomaniac delirium.
