Between forests and hills, the river Ahr meanders through a mystical, foggy autumn landscape. Amidst this idyll a man awakens in the middle of a vineyard. R. I. S. – Die Sprache der Toten is a German television series broadcast by Sat.1 since 2007. The R. I. S. in the title is an acronym for Rechtsmedizinische Investigative Sonderkommission, referring to the fictional police investigation unit that is the focus of the series. The series, a crime drama, is a remake of an Italian television series entitled RIS Delitti Imperfetti. The first season ended on 10 June 2007. Herold used to work as an engine driver for the corporation, but was fired following an accident. The ex-driver wants nothing more than to go back to work; one day, a young man named Karl who was a former colleague, gets in touch. The cor-poration's infallible computer has seconded Herold for a suicide mission: he is to dare the impossible and drive the train through the city's prohibited sector. When the engine breaks down on the underground railway, Herold begins to suspect what he has let himself in for.

Film version of the musical by the same name: Sunnie, a girl from the province, comes to Berlin to meet rock star Johnnie who had given her his address after a concert. On the subway to Kreuzberg, Sunnie becomes acquainted with a couple of strange people, among them "asphalt cowboy" Bambi. Bambi tells Sunnie that Johnnie’s address in Kreuzberg does not exist. Together, Sunnie and Bambi try to find the rock star in bustling metropolitan Berlin.
