Thampi, a retired old man, leads an isolated life in the village and is excited for his grandson Pachu's return. He welcomes Pachu and his friends, but his happiness is short-lived.

Jayakrishnan falls in love with two girls, Radha (a villager) and Clara (a sex-worker), and fights his confusion about whom he should marry and spend his life with.

Padmini who is separated from her husband gets attached to a young orphan girl named Gigi whom she met in a hospital after surviving a fatal bus accident. Due to Gigi's mental health issues, Padmini brings her to Dr. Padmanabhan who after initial apprehension accepts Gigi in his institute for children with special needs. The rest of the film is about what happens to Gigi when Padmini's ex-husband Sethu tries to reconcile with her.

It storms and thunders while Pappu makes love to Rathi. Only then do the storms—the one tormenting him inside his mind and the other raging thunderously on the outside, subside. The film is an esoteric fantasy about a girl and her passion for a celestial lover, who keeps appearing from a wooden statue that she found on a beach but is invisible to others.

Nakshathrangale Kaaval is a 1978 Indian Malayalam film adaptation of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award-winning novel of the same name by P. Padmarajan. It is directed by K. S. Sethumadhavan and produced by Hari Pothan and stars Jayabharathi, MG Soman, Sukumari and Adoor Bhasi in the lead roles.

Season is a 1989 Malayalam-language Indian feature film directed Padmarajan, starring Mohanlal and Gavin Packard in lead roles. The film, though a failure at the box office, stands apart because of Padmarajan's story-telling style, unconventional plot and characters, realistic portrayal of drug trade in Kovalam and flawless performance of Mohanlal and is considered now as a cult classic. The story is set in the beautiful locales of Kovalam beach in Kerala and Poojappura Central Prison, Trivandrum. In spite of the film's commercial failure at the time, Season is now considered to be amongst the best revenge thriller classics ever made in Malayalam and Mohanlal's performance in the movie stands apart because of his unconventional style of acting in such a complex plot. The film also showed how narration can be used as a strong tool in storytelling. Many feel that this movie was much ahead of time and if it would have released in late nineties, would have done good business.

Peruvazhiyambalam is a 1979 Malayalam film directed by P. Padmarajan based on his novel of the same name. The film is an incisive examination of how violence or totalitarianism works in our society; it dealt with disturbing questions relating to masculinity and how people adore and dread it at the same time. The Hindu described this film as one of the finest films in Malayalam. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam. The film was included in IBN Live's list of 100 greatest Indian films of all time.
