Elisabeth leaves her abusive and drunken husband Rolf, and goes to live with her brother, Göran. The year is 1975 and Göran lives in a commune called Together. Living in this leftist commune Elisabeth learns that the world can be viewed from different perspectives.

Eva Höök has just become head of the county criminal investigation department's investigation rotel in Luleå. She moves to Luleå and lives with her brother with her son Lasse. In addition to trying to solve various cases, she also has a complicated private life, e.g. with a son who is having a hard time at school.

Two young girls are killed on railway by a passing train. It does not seem to fit the profile of a normal suicide. So if this is a double homicide who would do this and why? A programmer who's working with the secret EWS computer system at a military air force base is threaten by foreign agents, along with his family. His only chance of rescue seems to be the war veteran Haglund who is a leader of a special taskforce.

Following her son's death, Victoria moves to a small community to work as a doctor at the local clinic. She attempts to forget and move on with her life but finds it impossible when a local boy is found dead in the snow and Victoria must tell the boy's parents. Police quickly explains it as an accident but Victoria finds that there is something strange about the whole affair.

Viktor's family doesn't get along very well; his older brothers fight, his father is tired and broken, his mother despondent. Viktor does what he can to make things better.
