Manasukkul Mathappu (English: Fireworks In My Heart) is a 1988 Tamil drama film starring Prabhu Ganesan, Saranya Ponvannan and Sarath Babu. The story is very loosely based on the English novel "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". It is a remake of the blockbuster 1986 Mohanlal starrer Malayalam film "Thalavattam", which was directed by Priyadarshan.

A young woman is dumped by her boyfriend just before the wedding as she will not be inheriting any wealth from her father. When the girl's father pays her a visit, she hires a man to act like her husband.

Vikram, a cop who is mourning the death of his wife, is assigned to retrieve a missile. He is aided by a highly educated engineer Preethi, who holds the knowledge to disarm the weapon, in his mission.

Vinod/Vinu (played by Mohanlal) is mentally ill and is hospitalized in the institution run by Dr. Ravindran ( M G Soman). Story progresses as Vinod recovers with the help of Dr. Savithri, Dr. Ravindran's daughter (Karthika) and Dr. Unnikrishnan (Nedumudi Venu) who finds that Vinu fell ill after the accidental death of his fiancée Anitha (Lizy). Later Vinu and Savithri fall in love but Savithri is already engaged to be married to her cousin, Hari(Mukesh). Plot progresses as Dr. Ravindran opposes the romance between the doctor and the recovered patient.

Vivek, a talented dancer and singer, meets Kavitha during one of his performances and takes a liking to her. She is the sister of Dr Rajagopal. When Vivek's sister marries a police inspector and Vivek comes to know that they are searching for a house for rent, he manages to get the house opposite Rajagopal's in order to meet Kavitha. After several meetings their love blossoms.

Basheer (Jagathy) is rescued by a cargo ship while lost at sea. Basheer has had a partial memory loss and he struggles to find out what has happened to him. The captain of the ship (Lalu Alex) tries to get him back to land, but he runs into several legal troubles due to the lack of documents with Basheer to prove his identity. Bhaskara Pillai (Mamootty), a lawyer decides to help out Basheer seeing his plight. The plot thickens when there's an attempted murder on Basheer.

Elizabeth (Sukumari) has just retired as a college sports coach. Heeding to the suggestions from her students, she starts a beauty parlour with her retirement money. Her son Emil (Rahman) and brother Vakkachan (Nedumudi Venu) assist her in this venture. However things don't start out well early, till the arrival of a skilled beautician Mini (Rohini). Business starts booming, but Emil soon starts getting curious about the mysteries surrounding Mini.

Gopan, Kora, and Bhakthavalsan are three college students who share same house along with Prem, another classmate. While the trio is more interested in loafing their time by flirting with girls, Prem is more serious in his attitude towards life. On a usual encounter, the trio meets Major Nair, a retired man in his fifties, who but loves romancing young girls. After a series of ego clashes, Nair learns that the trio is trying to woo his daughter Minu. Nair, enraged, challenges them to make his daughter fall for them.

Philip (Mammootty) is the owner of a financing company. Raju (Rahman), Philip's younger brother is a drug addict and is put under rehab. Convinced that he's out of his habit Philip sends him off to Madras to pursue his studies. However on a subsequent visit to the city Philip realises that Raju has gone back to his old habits. Amidst this Raju steals some money and gets away in Philip's car which meets with an accident killing him. Years later Philip gets married to Cicily (Sobhana) and one day mysteriously Raju comes back to their house alive.

Mohan-a dance master loves Kavitha and their marriage is fixed. However, Mohan meets with an accident and gets paralyses. Kavitha leaves Mohan because of her mother and so Stella takes care of him.

Douthyam movie is all about a one man army rescues his collegues from the dense forest, but he has to fight against a terrorist group and save confidential documents as well.

A post-master named Dilip Kumar re-locates to work in Mutharamkunnu. Once there, he sets about to meet the local residents and finds out that they are obsessed with wrestling. He meets with a proud and retired wrestler, Kuttan Pillai, and subsequently gets smitten by his daughter, Amminikutty. When he finds out that she an ardent fan of Mammooty, he lets it known that he is the latter's close friend. He intercepts her fan-mail, and even corresponds with her.

Kaliyil Alpam Karyam movie tells the story of Vinayan (Mohanlal) who comes from a rich family. His parents and his brother and sister are all modern. But Mohanal grew up eccentric and likes different things in life. He follows the teaching of Gandhi.He took a degree, and when a job opportunity came to be a postal inspector in a rural village , he jumps at the chance, at the disapproval of his parents to go work there. There he meets a village girl who lives next door and they fall in love. Problems happen when there two cultures clash, as the girl wants to become modern, while Mohanlal wants to continue to live the simplistic village life style.

Starring Mohanlal, Mukesh, Lizy, Sreenivasan, Jagathi Sreekumar, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Kuthiravattam Pappu in the main roles.
