Biography
After high school, Augustin first did a commercial apprenticeship in Erlangen. He then completed an apprenticeship at the Film and Television University in Munich. He played on stages in Munich, Detmold and numerous touring theaters. In 1966 he made his film acting debut in a short film directed by Marran Gosov, under which he starred several more times. Augustin appeared in numerous light comedies such as Engelchen or Die Jungfrau von Bamberg (with Gila von Weitershausen) and Helgalein (alongside Anita Kupsch), often playing stiff and awkward characters. He became known to a wide audience in 1973 as a comedian in the comedy series Klimbim. In the first season of Michael Pfleghar's entertainment series, Augustin acted in various skits and disguises and as the father of the "Klimbim family". After a year Augustin left the production. In the years that followed, he played in Alfred Vohrer's adaptation of Erich Kästner's Three Men in the Snow, in Werner Herzog's Woyzeck adaptation (with Klaus Kinski in the title role), in the Gottschalk comedy Tender Chaos and made guest appearances in numerous television series such as Der Kommissar, Police Inspection 1, The Fast Gerdi and Claude Chabrol's Histoires Insolites. His final resting place is in Erlangen

All 97 episodes, which were shot in black-and-white and first broadcast between 1969 and 1976, were written by Herbert Reinecker and starred Erik Ode as Kommissar Herbert Keller. Keller's assistants were Walter Grabert, Robert Heines, and Harry Klein who, in 1974, was replaced by his younger brother Erwin Klein.

"Löwengrube – Die Grandauers und ihre Zeit" is a German television series first aired between 1989 and 1992, created by Willy Purucker and directed by Rainer Wolffhardt. It is set in Munich and follows the lives of Ludwig Grandauer and his son Karl, both policemen, covering the years from 1897 to 1954. The TV show is based on Purucker's radio play series Die Grandauers und ihre Zeit (‘The Grandauers and their time’). The series’ main title "Löwengrube", meaning ‘Lions’ Den’, refers to the address of the Munich Police Headquarters inaugurated in 1913.

Alpha Alpha was a 1972 German science fiction fantasy television series which aired on ZDF. It starred Karl Michael Vogler, Lilith Ungerer, Arthur Brauss and Horst Sachtleben. Each episode was only 25 minutes long, the series lasted only one season. Karl Michael Vogler played agent alpha of an unnamed secret organization, investigating mysteries, technical and psychic phenomena and even alien encounters. Alpha Alpha's tenor is comparable to the later X-Files drama television series.
