When Håkan's mother Karin, who usually does most of the work in the family, becomes so stressed at the beginning of December that she breaks down and has to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital, there is a crisis, because Christmas is coming soon. Who will clean up, decorate and buy Christmas presents? And above all, where will the money come from?

Sune, an 11 year old boy struggles with girl troubles and school while he and his goofy family prepares for Christmas with failed attempts at all of the usual December traditions.

The first appearance on screen for Bert Ljung, a normal teenager who's diary Swedes have been able to follow in well over ten books now. As in the books, he fights spots, looks for girls, runs his moped, plays with his weird friends Ake and Erik, and a lot of other stuff teenagers are supposed to do.

Karin, Rudolf and their three children Anna, Sune and Håkan live in the small town of Glimmerdagg. Just like all parents, they try to make the everyday puzzle work, it's just that everyday life is rarely mundane with this family.

Bert has just turned 14 and he just got dumped by his girlfriend. He decides to try to find love again but encounters different obstacles, such as hot guitar guys, embarrassing parents and sudden pimple outbreaks.

A penny-pinching dad springs for an all-inclusive Greek vacation with his wife and three kids, who get up to plenty of antics of their own. What fun is a family vacation if you actually have to hang out with your parents the whole time?

It's summer and Sune Andersson's family is planning a holiday in Greece. Sune's father, Rudolf is sulking because then he won't be able to go on his beloved fishing trip. But after seeing how much the Greek trip is going to cost, he comes up with a great idea: Let's go on a camping trip instead. A lot is happens during this trip and after a while Rudolf discovers that the camping trip might not be as cheat as he thought.

Håkan is about to lose his best friend and gets the idea to find an old action actor for a comeback. If there is more movies made by him they will keep on playing together. But what if Håkans best friend has other interest in life?

Leila is the girl that everyone is in love with. Bert is in the same class as Amira, the little sister to Leila, and he sees his opportunity to approach Leila through friendship with Amira.

The film is based on a series of immensely popular Swedish children's books, about the boy Bert, who is just hitting puberty and having the usual problems with it. But that's where the usual ends abruptly.

The film takes place during the weeks that best pals Bert and Åke are going to do prao. Åke does his at Bert's father's optician's shop, while Bert has landed at restaurant Tippen. Here, Klimpen and, more importantly, Molly also do prao. Both Bert and Åke are in love with Molly. Molly seems to like Bert. And Åke? He has no idea. Difficult questions, dilemmas and intricate lies pile up to finally explode and Bert risks losing both his best friend and his great love.

Bert, Åke, Klimpen, Torleif, and the other boys in the class sit petrified with fear, waiting for the extremely terrifying Sister Ilse. The class is raising money for a class trip. Bert comes up with an idea—they will organize a gala where Bert's rock band, Heman Hunters, will play. At the same time, Klimpen threatens to perform as a stand-up comedian. Bert's new love is called Nadja Nilsson. Through Torleif, he finds out that she plays the violin, which Bert immediately starts practicing instead of soccer. But what will he become? A violin-playing phantom in love or a celebrated goal scorer?
