Biography

Black is also a founder of the South By Southwest Music Festival and Conference in 1987 which added film and new media components in 1994. The South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Conferences and Festivals take place during ten days in March. An original Board Member of the Austin Film Society (AFS Founder and Artistic Director Richard Linklator) he is a past president of the organization. In 2000 Texas Monthly Editor Evan Smith and Black working with AFS established the Texas Film Hall of Fame also in March.
