Biography
Brett Whitcomb is a documentary filmmaker with a catalog that oscillates between archive-rich, nostalgic portraits of pop culture, compelling stories of female empowerment, and observational snapshots of underexplored cultures. His 2020 feature, Jasper Mall, premiered at Slamdance and was released on Amazon Prime and PBS. His 2022 feature, Butterfly in the Sky, explores the beloved PBS series Reading Rainbow and its host, LeVar Burton. Butterfly in the Sky premiered at the Tribeca Festival and was released on Netflix in 2024. His most recent feature, The Spirit of Halloweentown, delves into a town that revolves around Halloween and premiered at Fantastic Fest in 2024.
