A boy named Gon was on the verge of death when gills grew on his body, allowing him to breathe again. Kang-ha and his grandpa rescue Gon. They grow into a peculiar family together. Kang-ha persecutes Gon who cut off from the world, but he send Gon out into the world to protect him. Like Gon's name which the same one as a fantasy bird that goes thousands of miles a day.
One day, Yi-rang fakes a fall in a race because she was afraid of losing. After the race, she decides to never run again. Soon, Yi-rang becomes friends with Soo-min, a new student from Seoul, and starts to ask herself about her future.

As the three accompany each other under the moonlight along the buckwheat flowers, Heo Saengwon realizes he has a special bond with Dong-i.

The tragic love story of Mu Hyeok (So Ji Sub of What Happened in Bali) and Eun Chae (Yim Soo Jung of Lump Sugar and I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK) made stars out of its leads and attracted an enormous fanbase throughout Asia. Two years later, G&G Entertainment released a 35-minute animated version of the drama, Between of One Year, consisting of highlights from the drama and new scenes dealing with the final moments of Eun Chae and Mu Hyeok's relationship. The script was supervised by the writer of the original live-action drama, Lee Kyung Hee.
