The Ritchie Blackmore Story traces the long and winding road of the guitar legend — from his early days as a session player (with legendary producer Joe Meek) and his early ’60s combo the Outlaws up through his years guiding one of hard rock’s finest bands, Deep Purple, and into his recent work with Blackmore’s Night.
After his departure from Deep Purple in 1993, Ritchie Blackmore reformed Rainbow with a new line-up and went into the studio to record the acclaimed “Stranger In Us All” album. The band then took to the road for an extensive tour which included this 1995 live concert in Dusseldorf filmed for Germany’s famous Rockpalast TV series. The set features several tracks from the “Stranger In Us All” album alongside classic Rainbow and Deep Purple tracks. The band are on blistering form and Ritchie Blackmore shows just why he is so revered as a guitarist. This previously unreleased show is a great addition to any Rainbow fan’s collection.

First Of May When Blackmore’s Night rolled in to York, England, on 30 September 2011, the heat scorched the medieval streets and the sunlight bathed the old city walls. Inside the Grand Opera House, Ritchie Blackmore, Candice Night and their band of minstrels were generating their own heat as they took their devoted audience on a musical journey through the ages with songs from their two new albums, Secret Voyage and Autumn Sky, such as "Locked Within The Crystal Ball", "Darkness" plus a new interpretation of "First Of May" – a rarely played ballad, originally performed by the Bee Gees, and an additional smattering of songs from earlier albums, most notably the classic "Fires At Midnight."
For a decade, Candice Night, Ritchie Blackmore, and their fellow band of minstrels have crafted an enchanting folk/rock sound with Renaissance overtones that has earned them the devotion of fans around the globe. Over the course of five high internationally charting studio albums, several live and compilation releases, numerous awards and many sold-out tours around the planet, they have truly perfected their signature blend of music. The band continues to tour around the globe and this brand new DVD, filmed at the famous Olympia in Paris, France is a celebration of the past 10 years.
