It was founded in 1992, when Antonio Peña broke away from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) to set up his own promotion to have more creative freedom. On April 19, 2025 it was announced that AAA had been acquired by WWE.

The 2023 Payback is the upcoming seventh Payback professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE. It will be held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event will take place during Labor Day weekend on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and will be the first Payback held since 2020.

This event marked a historic shift, as it was the very first Triplemanía staged under the ownership and creative influence of WWE, following their acquisition of AAA on August 1, 2025.

It took place on February 2, 2014, from the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England and Aired on PPV on May 9, 2014.

Bound for Glory (2016) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). It took place on October 2, 2016 at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida.
