Boulder is the story of a farmer family trying to get permission from the state institutions to finish the drilling on their land. While the drilling machine was moving under the ground, it hit a rock and stopped. This obstacle must be overcome for the family to reach the water source.

In a secluded village, the sudden collapse of the state leaves villagers unable to divide the land they once farmed together. As tensions rise, the elder recalls a legend of a buried deed said to reveal the true owner of the land.

By separating voice and image the film intends to create an echo chamber that allows audiences to listen more carefully to Kavala’s letters, while at the same time place his words in context to a civil society.
