Consistent of only two long shots, three witches predict that Macbeth will ascend to the throne of Scotland. To fulfill this prophecy, Lady Macbeth convinces her husband to murder King Duncan, who has come to spend the night at their home. This crime plunges the new ruler into a macabre spiral that will lead him to sink into guilt and madness.

Using almost no dialogue, the film follows a number of residents (both human and animal) of a small rural community in Hungary – an old man with hiccups, a shepherdess and her sheep, an old woman who may or may not be up to no good, some folk-singers at a wedding, etc. While most of the film is a series of vignettes, there is a sinister and often barely perceptible subplot involving murder.

Tamás, a jaded ad executive, is taken hostage during a gas‐station robbery where both fellow captives and criminals are so unhinged that you never know who holds the gun or when it might fire. No one in this motley crew is who they claim to be, as World Cup commentary blares in the background, a mysterious shipping container surfaces; by the end, even the U.S. president makes an appearance.

Our story takes place in a small frontier town that is a real cross-section of the dreaded terror of the 1950s. On October 23, 1956, the ÁVÓ is throwing a ball for the birthday of the daughter of the local Russian commander. At this ball, the young people plan a clash with the local armed forces. The plan is foiled when the ball is interrupted by news of the outbreak of the Budapest revolution. By this time, Juli, the daughter of the local caretaker commander, and Robi, the son of an actor who has been deported from the capital, are in love. In this revolutionary situation, can the two opposing hearts of love be for each other?

This epic story takes place between 1820 and 1860 during the Habsburg Monarchy, and portrays the life one of the greatest Hungarian aristocrats - Count Széchenyi - who was born with extra-ordinary mental and spiritual talents. In the years following the fall of Napoleon the young count Széchenyi irresponsibly seduces his brother's wife, and the consequent scandal ruins his career as an army officer. After the sudden death of his humiliated lover Count Széchenyi drastically changes his character from that of a shallow young man into a responsible nobleman seeking to conquer his fate by creating great achievements in his remaining life.

On a single day the fate of three couples are joined and some of them sealed.

From the film-shooting in the Buda Castle Marci and his friend go to a well-paying job. The scene is a big castle in the middle of a huge park. They enjoy the company of the Kid and the beautiful naked French girl, Nathalie. Their job is to watch the monitors on which they can see the Moscow coup détat. By the time Gorbachev is executed the Communist and the Nationalists have taken turns in occupying the castle and the park.

Iván is living in exile from Hungary when he receives word that an old flame is ill. His return to Budapest rekindles old memories and reopens old wounds.

József Tógyer, the typical nobody, just wanted to buy some cloves for their New Year's Eve punch, but ends up as a hostage to a bank robbery gone wrong. In distress, he takes out life insurance, that makes his wife want him to die, while the insurance company wants to save his life. The local radio-station offers him a job and he gains surprising popularity, and finds new love.

Never miss a satire if you'd like to have a wider view of the 60's or 70's (and maybe the 80's) Eastern Europe. Both the regime and behavior of people are pilloried, with many-many hints that show deeper details of the correlation of the two. And the creators didn't miss to have some words about the West and it's part of this history. But don't sit down to see the film if you'd like to have a light funny evening movie, 'cause that will lash up your feelings alright. The director is that same Peter Bacso, who directed the legendary satire 'A tanu' (The witness) which deals with the same historical era, the same relations between politics and the people, just from a little different point of view.
