The Lipizzan horse is considered to be the oldest extant cultural breed in Europe. The breed dates back to the 16th century when it was created with the support of the Habsburg monarchy. Lipizzan horses were bred to perform the purest form of classical riding, the High School dressage. The finest representatives of Lipizzaner stallions begin training when they are four years old. The horses are born dark and gradually grow lighter until they are completely white.

Giant features leading junior team gymnasts of Romania. The film is shot in two boarding schools for artistic gymnastics in Onesti and Deva. A soundtrack of interviews with the gymnasts accompanies images of them training and of empty gymnasiums. Archive film footage starting from 1970s and clips from a feature fiction film shot in the same locations reveal not only a continuity in picturing this sport but also the structures of recording it.

In the short film Victoria, a nightly blossoming of the giant water lily is depicted. The plant tells the story of European colonialism in the 19th century and hides within its beauty the human need for power and domination.

The c-cassette didn’t have any description of what it had inside, and for a while I could not recall what the unfamiliar noise was, or was it just worn out or if the player I used was broken.

Cave, engages with elements of the science fiction genre and a futuristic setting accompanied by a Brian Eno soundtrack. Again, in this film, a moment of dramatic suspense occurs when the female protagonist, a laboratory worker of some kind who has followed the sound of an explosion to a cave interior where three men are surreally, soundlessly, drilling, is spotted by one of the men. He stops, throws his flashlight on her and looks in her direction

A film about looking and the human need to see and understand the world, and about the limits of the sensory system, as the mind penetrates deeper into matter, time and space.

Thriller opens with the scene of a house in a forest (reminiscent of Tarkovsky) in which a young man in farm clothes bearing a suffering demeanour tends sheep and a young woman in vampiric goth-garb gathers bracken for a fire. They do not look at one another. The soundtrack hums eerily. The young woman looks up towards an upstairs window of the house. Cut to an interior where a younger girl lies daydreaming on her bed. The man enters the house, turns the handle of her door. Cut to a close-up of her porcelain face wide-eyed in terror. The suspense dissipates as he turns away without opening the door. Cut to the girl as she lies back down on her bed, an enigmatic smile on her face. (Some critics have read her expression as relief, perhaps at some averted abuse, but her expression could also be read as triumph.)
