Makio Kōdai is a shy 35-year-old woman. She works as a novelist. One day, her sibling and her sibling's married partner die in a car accident. Makio Kōdai attends their funeral and meets her 15-year-old niece Asa Takumi, who is now left alone due to her parents’ death. The other relatives at the funeral speak insensitive words around Asa Takumi. Makio Kōdai gets furious at them and decides to take in her niece. Makio Kōdai, who has problems having relationships with other people, and Asa Takumi now begin to live together.

A young bioarchaeologist Yukisuke is attracted to a girl Koyomi, who runs a small stand of taiyaki pastry that he often buys. Koyomi is hospitalized, however, by a car accident on a rainy day after they go out together, and wakes up with short term memory loss, where she cannot remember anything beyond the present day. Yukisuke tries to live close to her as before but the lack of collective memory starts to stagger him.

"World Is So Beautiful" was originally conceived as a collaboration between Agnes B. and Japanese visual/sound artist Takagi Masakatsu. Taking inspiration from the Agnes B. winter 2002-2003 collection, Takagi created ten video works from his journeys to Indonesia, Turkey, Cuba, Nepal, Guatemala, Germany, France and Japan. On "World Is So Beautiful", Takagi gives a blessing to the beauty of this world. These video pieces were exhibited in nine Agnes B. shops in Japan from August 22nd to October 31st, 2002. Afterwards, they were exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and the Singapore Art Museum.

The 124-kilometer Niyodo River is the purest in all of Japan. It possesses a striking hue of blue known as Niyodo Blue that is a testament to the cleanliness of its waters, which have remained pristine despite serving the needs of 100,000 locals. The program vividly portrays the Niyodo through gorgeous photography captured with the latest technology and Masakatsu Takagi's evocative piano score. The Niyodo remains blue from the forests that give it birth to its mouth. Along the way, its waters nurture the colorful wildlife that live in and around the river while also displaying a surprising expressiveness themselves. These aspects are filmed in meticulous detail with the help of guide Nobuyuki Takahashi, a photographer with intimate knowledge of the river.
