Martin is an innocent lad from small-town Mlada Boleslav who comes to big-city Prague, hoping to exchange his krona for deutschemarks so that he can visit Germany. A local spiv named Robert obliges Martin, but at an unfair exchange rate. When Martin finds out he was rooked, he plans revenge on Robert ... but then decides to join Robert's gang instead.
Matylda, who lives in the Czech countryside, is trying to arrange burial plans for her dying husband, Jan. While Matylda hopes to have a funeral for Jan in the small town where they once lived, there are complications. Years earlier, Jan spoke out against the Communist government and was consequently expelled from the town. When Matylda fails to convince a local politician to allow the ceremony, she uses her husband's funeral as a public show of dissent.
Elementary school student Jožka has a great love – horses. He is looking forward to turning this love into a profession. However, he is atoning for his father's criminal activities, he is not accepted into his dream school focused on horse breeding due to a bad report and has to be content with learning to be a tractor driver. However, he continues to do his best for horses, he trains the racehorse Palisander, who has never won. His outsider fate is similar to his. However, Jožka wins everything there is to win despite various ups and downs – he stands up to bullying in the youth home, an arrogant tutor, human weaklings, manages to study well even at a school that he doesn't enjoy and does sports. He also gains the respect of his classmates. Real jockeys also star in the film. It also features the birth and death of a horse. The scene where Jožka's father saves a horse from a burning truck is dramatic. The scenes with carrier pigeons are touching.

The parents of twins Petr and Pavel are leaving for Afghanistan to build a dam. They entrust their offspring to their uncle Podlipný in Gottwaldov. The boys soon make friends with their new classmates. They are a little envious of their uncle, the pilot, because almost the entire class is interested in airplanes and attends a model-making club. Here, under the guidance of instructor Dáša, they build a model of an OK 12 airplane, with which they want to participate in a competition. The children assume that both Prague boys are also good at model-making. Petr and Pavel are ashamed to admit that they know nothing about this activity. To save their reputation, they decide to secretly learn it themselves.
Based on a Jack London story, this is another attempt at a Western spectacle - after the short story triptych The Canyon of Gold - about a teenage boy who, after his father's death, lives in a gold-mining town. He even witnesses a cruel fight between two cowboys over a supposed treasure.
