1905. A Jewish Shtetl. Shimek and Buzya are two 10 year olds. Of course, she is a princess and he is a prince. They live in the same yard, in neighboring palaces. What Buzya really means to him, Shimek begins to understand only years later when, far away from home, when he receives the news that Buzya is about to be married off.
He killed and went unpunished for more than ten years, and more than fifty people died at his hands. An innocent man was convicted and shot instead. For a long time, the murders he committed could not be combined into one case. Maniacs of this caliber simply did not exist in the USSR, so law enforcement agencies were not ready to fight the "Rabid Beast", as journalists later dubbed it. Vigilantes, police officers, investigators from the prosecutor's office, psychiatrists were involved in the capture of Chikatilo, and new investigative techniques were developed that will help save innocent people.

The play is a compositional study based on a story by Boris Vakhtin. The desire to introduce the audience to the poetic world of Vakhtin's prose and to find an atmosphere reminiscent of the author led the creators to use the form of studies, stage sketches that are extremely conventional and open to the audience's perception. The search for intonation and the fine line between conventionality and authenticity of experience were central to this work.
