A pair of music-loving siblings go on different adventures in distant, mysterious lands, which help them understand matters big and small.

A few naked women and children are bathing in a river. They are being secretly observed by a group of men who, at one point, decide to approach them in a violent manner, as if inspired by the behaviour of hippopotamuses.

A little devil appears in a small town, seemingly terrorising its inhabitants, but actually turns out to be a friendly creature when it helps a disabled boy.

Six animated shorts eschew traditional animation by featuring supernatural elements and darker themes, such as alien snatchings, life among mannequins and a spiritual rebirth. Among the films are "Ape," which features a couple fighting over a cooked monkey every night; "The Story of the Cat and the Moon," which is a tale of unrequited love; and "Gentle Spirit," which is based on a Fyodor Dostoyevsky story.

A man seated next to the body of his young wife thinks about their brief life together. Suicide has been the only escape for her... Dumala's technique creates a dark, claustrophobic atmosphere, entirely suitable for Dostoyevski's novel "A Gentle Spirit" on which it is based.

Twenty animators from the U.S., Switzerland, Poland and China express their friendship with and love of animation in a series of animated variations on the standard countdown.

The action of the film takes place in two periods of time. An old man leads his son through a forest, and is simultaneously under his care confined to bed with a deadly illness.

A pastiche of old TV programmes explaining science to the general public and an ironic commentary on peculiarities that have pervaded contemporary TV programmes. In his original programme Dr Character, modelled on a person from the opening credits of A Billion in Mind, a game show (which, by the way, was made by Piotr Dumata many years ago), presents extraordinary scientists, original inventors and a selection of curiosities. Jerzy, Ptazewski, a doyen of the Polish film critics, gave his voice to the character.

A contemporary take on the Last Supper of Jesus and the Twelve Apostles with an unexpected twist. A drama based around a group of men seated at a table, moving to the rhythm of modern music for a string quartet.

A man with an enigmatic look arrives at a town called Ederly. "Ederly is not only the name of the town, it has a deeper meaning", the visitor is told.

A story about growing up, making decisions, and the daily cruelty of the world, based on an unfinished novel by Franz Kafka. An older servant seduces Karl Rossmann in his family home. To avoid scandal, Karl’s parents send him to America, where he is thrown into the vortex of a strange and ruthless world. He begins an endless journey in search of his place in an unknown country.

Under the starlight, a boy and a girl are running. A thunderstorm breaks out, trees are shattered, and a rain of silver needles turned into hair floats through the air.

An animated short film from 1987 that deals with the incarceration of a man in a dark cell from where there is no escape.

A dream-like story of a sleeping man whose body parts live their own lives at night to return to him in the morning - all except one leg which has chosen freedom. Its owner as well as a crowd of homeless men chase the leg, but it grows feathers and flies away as a bird. A grotesque tale with a poetic ending and with interesting music by Janusz Hajdun.
