In the rural outskirts of Gaza City a small community of farmers, the Samouni extended family, is about to celebrate a wedding. It's going to be the first celebration since the latest war. Amal, Fuad, their brothers and cousins have lost their parents, their houses and their olive trees. The neighborhood where they live is being rebuilt. As they replant trees and plow fields, they face their most difficult task: piecing together their own memory. Through these young survivors' recollections, Samouni Road conveys a deep, multifaceted portrait of a family before, during and after the tragic event that changed its life forever.

When Anna was fourteen years old, her father was arrested and accused of being the secret head of Italian terrorism, charges of which he would be acquitted, years later. After four years in prison and fifteen in exile, Toni Negri became a world-class political philosopher, and his arrest merely one chapter in an extraordinary life. On Anna, though, that story left an indelible impression, and this film becomes a tale of the traumas of two generations, both personal and collective. Anna and Toni meet up in Venice, in front of a film camera, a friend of theirs doing the filming. Toni knows it will be his last time in Venice – and dies six months later. Anna, who has never lived with her father since his arrest, now tries to make up for lost time. And it is in this new dimension of a voyage of mutual discovery that we witness, as conveyed in a few gestures and choice words, any last doubts and misconceptions fade away, and the real meaning of two such complicated lives become clear.

Frammartino, S. George, ghezzi/Gagliardo, C. Hintermann, G. Maderna, A. Momo, A. Rossetto, M. Santini, C. Simon, S. Savona) to give us their own "lost road," that is, a sequence, scene or piece of editing that did not later find its way into the final version of one of their works. Each fragment has its own accomplished presence, often has a different title from the film it was made for, which is not necessary to have seen in order to find meaning; on the contrary, those who set out thinking they know the world they are walking through will find themselves displaced.
