As intrusive experiments, constant scrutiny, and malfunctioning gadgets strain their family life, a planned railway project momentarily frees them. A group of wealthy American Jewish businessmen have been captured by the SS and are told that they are to be traded to the American army for several SS officers. However, these hostages are being required to pay bribes for their "transportation costs." In order to ensure that the businessmen will be more cooperative in paying up, a beautiful female singer is placed in their midst as a bargaining chip. The group of hostages are then placed on a train which is supposed to take them to the ship that will deliver them to freedom, but a series of "mishaps" delays their escape.

The apartment in the old house is occupied by a large family: a couple with three daughters, one of whom lives here with her husband and child. The young people want their own apartment, while the mother, who is indiscriminately directing the whole family, wants to exchange the current apartment for a larger one. At the moment when the son-in-law wants to show the housing committee of the cooperative the apartment in the worst possible condition, the mother frantically cleans up the artificial mess, because at the same time more people are coming in to exchange it. The confusion reaches its peak...

The theme is inspired by the real life stories of Czechoslovak cyclists Jan Vesely and Jan Kubro. It offers us a look behind the scenes of big races, conflicts with coaches and inner tensions in borderline situations.

An impoverished merchant, decided to sell a precious painting of his deceased wife, wanders into a fairy-tale castle at night, where he loses his painting and is given lavish gifts of clothes and jewelry for his two vain daughters. He then picks a rose himself for his youngest, Beauty. He is caught by the lord of the castle, a terrible monster, who sets a condition that the merchant either returns or one of his daughters voluntarily comes as a sacrifice for his father.
