Biography
Imre Hajdú ( 26 January 1911 – 21 October 1989) better known by his stage name Jean Image was a Hungarian-French director, script writer and producer of French animation films. His stage name, "Image" is based upon the French pronunciation of "Im-Haj", the first syllables of his name. In 1959, he participated in the creation of Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Jean Image was also the author of a book on animation titled "Le Dessin animé: initiation à la technique" (1979). He emigrated to France in 1932 where he worked on films and eventually produced several shorts on his own. After the war, influenced by the classic style of Walt Disney's films, he became the first French producer of the full-length animated film (Johnny the Giant Killer). In 1948, he founded the Films Jean Image company and in 1960 he devoted himself to producing television cartoon series. Two of these series (Kiri le Clown and Joe), have become very popular. His first wife was Eraine Image (born Germaine Suzanne Charvot). He was later married to France Image, with whom he co-wrote his later movies and series. Johnny and his friends embark on a journey to rid their land of an evil giant. While inside the giant's castle, the children are trapped by the giant and put through a magical shrinking machine. Johnny narrowly escapes the castle, but he is now the size of a small insect. Johnny will find that the world of insects is no picnic. The bees are feuding with the hornets, and Johnny is right in the middle of it. Johnny must now gain the trust of the insects to help him rescue his friends from the giant. Can he do it in time?

The film follows the adventures of Baron Munchausen, who is prompted to travel to the moon by his cousin Sirius, an astrologer convinced that it is inhabited by an ancient race called the Selenites. The Selentites incidentally possess the secret of immortality. The Baron takes up his cousin's offer and travels to the moon using a tall masted ship pulled by three hot air balloons and he is aided by his super-ability friends (who are from the prequel to this film, The Fabulous Adventures of the Legendary Baron Munchausen). When they reach the moon, they are initially placed in jeopardy as their craft lands in a crater and they fall into a subterranean sea inhabited by monsters...
The Secret of the Selenites
He travels to Aladdin's village, identified as being near the border with China, where he enlists Aladdin's help by pretending to be his long-lost uncle and offering to leave his wealth to Aladdin. At one point, the Magician character tells the story of his travels to China, India and Persia and we see a montage of these adventures and it's kind of interesting because of the way it invokes other cultures of the era. There is some unnecessary padding throughout as characters break into songs that do nothing but tell parts of Once upon a time, somewhere in Africa, a local magician dreamed of owning the Magic Lamp. Thanks to a Magic Ball he learned that the Lamp could be found in an Asian village and that only the innocent hand of a young person could snatch it. Joe the Little Boom Boom was an animated television series first produced between 1960 to 1963 and later remade into an animated feature film in 1973. The show and the film were created by Jean Image, one of the leading French animators of his time.

Bzz, the Bee-guide enlists the help of Joe to help save the Queen. He is given an injection to shrink him to the size of an insect and enters the parlor of the sleeping beauty, Honeyflower.

The trio brings along Little Orbit the Astrodog to assist in the search. On their fantastical journey they battle a phantom space-bird, asparagus monsters (with Bronx accents) that want them for lunch, and a race of space-robots on a machine planet.
