Few bands are more closely associated with Montreux than Deep Purple and there was simply no other contender when it came to choosing the act to headline the closing night of the 40th Montreux Festival in 2006. The band duly delivered one of their finest live performances, sprinkling songs from their latest album "Rapture Of The Deep" through a set chock full of their classic tracks. There was even a brand new song "Too Much Fun" written especially for the occasion and, of course, a show-stopping performance of "Smoke On The Water".

The two surviving members of Nirvana joined on stage by Lorde, Annie Clark, Kim Gordon and Joan Jett for emotional renderings of the group’s biggest hits. Cat Stevens performing a spine-tingling version of Father & Son that rendered the massive Barclays Center quiet as a church. Journey performing three classic cuts: Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), Lights and Don't Stop Believin'. Ringo Starr being welcomed into the Rock Hall with a little help from Paul McCartney. Filmed by 12 HD cameras and recorded by a top mobile studio, the show offers one of the most magical performances of the NOW What?! tour. Every member of the band is in fantastic form, the band being strong from a full tour together, and the performance seems to be driving the band through the song like if audience and band were suspended in time.

Filmed on the closing night of this year's Montreux Festival on July 16, this concert features Deep Purple playing their classic hits with the accompaniment of a full symphony orchestra conducted by Stephen "BK" Bentley-Klein. The orchestral arrangements give an added depth and range to the familiar songs and the band, who are clearly enjoying the experience, deliver one of their finest performances. With a career stretching back into the late sixties and global album sales in excess of 100 million, Deep Purple need no introduction. They continue to record and perform around the world on an ongoing basis and remain of the finest hard rock bands on the planet.

This performance was recorded on April 28, 1981, for the TV show After Hours at Studio 31 in Rochester, New York. The set included "I Don’t Know", "Crazy Train", "Mr. Crowley" and "Suicide Solution", along with an interview with Ozzy Osbourne. This footage is the only known professionally recorded video of Randy Rhoads performing full songs live with Ozzy Osbourne. Additional segments featuring Ozzy or Randy aired on Two on the Town, Entertainment Tonight (early 1982), The Rock Report, and MTV, which awarded Randy Rhoads the Best New Talent Award posthumously in March 1982.

Accompanied by Don Airey, Robert Hawthorn, Johnny Marter and Brian Badhams, former Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden leads 1980s British symphonic rockers Alaska in a tight performance at the famed Roadhouse in London. Although they only recorded two albums together -- "Heart of the Storm" and "The Pack" -- Alaska thrilled fans with exciting live shows and standout tracks such as "The Pack" and "SOS."

The rock legends around Ian Gillan opened the open-air Schlossplatz concerts of this year's Jazzopen 2023 with a bang – powerful guitar riffs alternated with absolute classics like 'Smoke on the Water.' The forefathers of hard rock and its most influential representatives did the honors and showed for over an hour and a half that rock can still inspire today's generation. -The band, led by Ian Gillan, delivered a high-energy show, blending heavy guitar riffs with their iconic classic hits. -The setlist was a mix of classic rock anthems, including "Smoke on the Water," "Highway Star," "Space Truckin'," and "Black Night," alongside other notable tracks like "Perfect Strangers," "Lazy," and "When a Blind Man Cries." - The concert duration was over an hour and a half, reinforcing the bands commitment to there fans. - The concert took place on July 18, 2023, at Schlossplatz, Stuttgart, Germany, as part of their "Unleashed in Europe Tour 2023".

The concert gave fans a chance to relive Jon Lord's remarkable and extensive musical career, remembering music from Paice, Ashton Lord, Deep Purple, his later classical compositions and everything in between – all in aid for the charity organization The Sunflower Jam. The 83-piece Orion Orchestra performed, conducted by Paul Mann and accompanied by bands and artists such as Deep Purple, Paul Weller, Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman, Joe Brown, Miller Anderson, Steve Balsamo and many, many more.

Almost 50 years after their founding, Deep Purple released their 20th studio album “Infinite”. Hard rock legends Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey went on tour for the last time. On June 16th they performed at Hellfest, the biggest French metal meeting. Mat Bastard hosted this special, final concert.
