This is a story about the battle for a hospital building in Grozny (Chechnya) in January 1995 between Russian Army forces and Chechen rebels supported by Arabian mujahideen and international mercenaries. Although the story is fictional, most of the characters are based on real-life prototypes and events are the compilation of true events during the Grozny Siege in the First Chechen War.
A film about the sociopolitical condition of the Soviet society at the end of the eighties.
This film is more about people than horses. It draws on the history and current reality of the so-called "L.E.P." (Lectio Equiaria Palaestra)—an ancient secret practice that very simply and very convincingly demonstrates that, alas, reason is not a privilege or special distinction reserved for humans, but is inherent in all living beings as well. A normal, substantial, fully-fledged reason in its very familiar forms, which humans consider their exclusive prerogative.
