Biography
Writer, director and award-winning producer and director Eddy Moretti is the co-founder of Unbranded Pictures. Prior to launching Unbranded, Moretti served as Chief Creative Officer at VICE Media for two decades where he was responsible for the content across all of the company's flagship properties and divisions, including VICE's 13 digital channels. A prolific producer of film and television, Moretti recently ensured that Scott Z. Burns' festival darling "The Report" (Adam Driver, Annette Bening & Jon Hamm) would be seen by audiences worldwide by securing financing through both VICE Studios and Unbranded Pictures. Other notable producing credits include "Fishing Without Nets", nominated for the Jury Prize and winner of the Directing Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival; "The Bad Batch", by visionary writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour, and winner at the 2017 Venice Film Festival; and Harmony Korine's "The Beach Bum", starring Matthew McConaughey, which premiered at SXSW in 2019. Also an active producer of documentaries, Moretti's most recent projects include "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond with Jim Carrey", and "The Third Industrial Revolution: A Radical New Sharing Economy", based on the economic and social theory of Jeremy Rifkin, which Moretti directed & produced. In 2016, alongside longtime creative partner Spike Jonze, Moretti launched Viceland, an Emmy-winning 24-hour cable TV channel that is available in more than 80 territories around the world. His numerous awards and nominations include multiple Emmys, Peabodys, Canadian Screen Awards, D&AD, and Cannes Lions. Moretti's work has been invited to screen at such notable festivals as Cannes, Venice, Berlin, TIFF, Telluride, Sundance, and SXSW. A graduate of the Department of Cinema Studies at NYU Tisch, Moretti specialized in film theory and the avant-garde. As a screenwriter he has sold feature screenplays to New Line Cinema, Plan B, Summit Entertainment, and River Road Entertainment Reflecting his keen interest in sustainability and the world at large, Moretti is a supporter of Edible Schoolyards, the Urban Arts Program, and serves on the Chairman's Council of the environmental organization Conservation International.
