Biography
The cinematic work of Christel Buschmann, born in 1942, raised in Bremen and Hamburg, and educated in German, Romance languages, and philosophy, is modest in scope but no less noteworthy for that. Between 1980 and 1988, she made four feature films, which were shown at festivals around the world, as well as an episodic film and, in the 1990s, a dozen television documentaries. She also made a music video for the successful Neue Deutsche Welle band Extrabreit. In 1982, she founded her own production company, Rocco-Film. She also taught story development and dramaturgy at film schools in Berlin and Munich, among others, and was a scholarship holder at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles.
