A family struggles to survive in an area that was claimed as part of Rumania, Poland and Ukraine, all within a short span of time. When World War II comes, various family members choose different masters; some even choose to work for the Soviets. War, struggle, marriages, births, deaths--all these events punctuate the story of this large family.

There is a ballad written by Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko called “That Catherine's hut is on the hill...". It is about a rescue of Catherine's lover, whom she saves by posing him as her brother. This story, as a parable, flies throughout Ukraine's history and reconstructs its dramatic and heroic episodes. Every challenge, including the Chernobyl accident, leaves Catherine without her home. But she is stubborn, as many generations of Ukrainians, in rebuilding her house out of pieces. The story is not only about Catherine's redemption, but also about Ukraine's survival throughout the centuries that is reflected in a folk tradition called Toloka.

The film takes place in Kyiv during the day. Daniel Pritulyak, serving foreigners as guide, invents a route for the Americans on the life of an obscure but talented poet Danila Pritulyak.

The story about one episode in young family life. Film shows an ordinary life situation in which the daughter via an emotional conversation with her dad appears to be wiser and more adult then her parents. The novel must turn your attention to the fact that children's words have more truth then it seems and the most important skill is to learn to listen and hear each other, especially in a family.

Ukraine, 1920s. A gang of enemies of the Soviet government is rampaging in the village. Returning home, wounded 15-year-old Red Army soldier Fedya Panko decides to neutralize the enemy, who, as it turns out, operates not only on the battlefield.

The day I saw the globe was not just another day in June for me. That day will forever stand out from the rest—it was the first time I saw Kyiv. I remember that I was not particularly impressed by Vladimir the Baptist (I had seen this monument in photos and in movies), but I never imagined that I could turn the earth with a polished handle, just as I once turned the well crank in Cherkasy at the customs office on the way to Dnipro.

The action is set at the start of the twentieth century, between a village by the River Dnyepr and the coast of Florida. While the story has ironic, romantic and sometimes mystic angles, the bitter aspects of emigration from Ukraine to the United States become clearly visible.

A collection of short stories based on real-life situations revealing the characteristic features of some people with humor. Some of the characters are methodically trying to achieve a different result, while making the same action over and over again. It is interesting that someone even does it. Not typical twists of plot lines and brightness of the images supplement the film.
