Biography
Javier Ruán Jaimes (1940–2021) was a Mexican actor, screenwriter, educator, and voice actor with a career spanning more than five decades. Trained in philosophy, pedagogy, and dramatic arts at institutions including the INBA and the Escuela Normal Superior, Ruán combined intellectual rigor with a deep social sensibility. He made his film debut in 1967 in Corona de Lágrimas (dir. Alejandro Galindo) and went on to appear in over forty films, earning an Ariel Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Los Marcados (1971). Alongside his extensive film work, he became widely recognized for his roles in Mexican television and radio, as well as for his acclaimed work as a writer. Ruán received numerous honors for his artistic legacy, including the Medalla Virginia Fábregas and the Cabeza Olmeca, and was named Hijo Predilecto of Nahuatzen, Michoacán. His autobiographical book Los de adelante corren mucho… reflects his profound commitment to education, art, and social memory.

Destilando Amor is a 2007 Mexican telenovela produced by Televisa and Nicandro Díaz. It stars Angélica Rivera and Eduardo Yáñez as the main protagonists and was set primarily in Tequila, Jalisco. It is a remake of the 1994 Colombian telenovela Café, con aroma de mujer, and was nominated for twelve Premios TVyNovelas of which it won ten including Best Telenovela of the Year.
