Badavara Bandhu is a 1976 Indian Kannada language drama film directed by Vijay. It stars Rajkumar and Jayamala. The movie is also notable for the negative character played by K. S. Ashwath.The movie saw a theatrical run of 25 weeks and was declared a Blockbuster at the box office.

Ramanna, with his meager income, gives his brothers, Chetan and Chandru, good education. Chandru supports his family after he gets a job, but all hell breaks loose when he marries a rich girl, Meena.

The movie explores the nuance of Oedipus Complex. The heroine, a popular theatre artist, falls in love with a rich, young man. They eventually get married and beget a child. But the heroine is bored of married life and wants to dabble in acting. The husband refuses and leaves the town with his child. The heroine gets a lucky break in cinema and becomes a household name. Years later, as fate had it, a young man falls in love with the heroine and she reciprocates his love, but as a mother. She always gives him affection and loves like a mother. She encounters her ex-husband and pleads him to show her son just for once. But as fate has it doesn t happen, and she goes in deep depression and commits suicide, too late for the young lover who realizes that he had fallen in love with his own mother.

Kaveri, a poor woman, tries to commit suicide with her son but is caught. She is put behind bars and her son is brought up by a judge. Years later, he meets his mother again.

Suhasini goes home to explain to her husband but discovers that her husband has abused the maid. She decides to leave him but Vishnuvardhan tries to convince her husband that his relationship with Suhasini is pure. Jai Jagadeesh misbehaves with Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini gets hurt while trying to make sense with her husband. Finally Vishnuvardhan dies saving her baby.

Chandrashekar, a construction engineer, meets his uncle, who he considers to be responsible for his father's death. But, his uncle tries to prove his innocence and rebuild a healthy relationship.

Karna, an unemployed graduate, is always at fault for everything he does. Karna tries to win his father's heart, but circumstances turn against him.
