Sunita, an air hostess and Poonam, an ad executive stay together in Mumbai in a rented apartment. Their lives take interesting turn when they start sharing the flat with a struggling actor Kumar and a small time broker Sudhir.

The Kapoor family consists of Kishorilal, his wife Lajjo, son, Prakash, and daughter, Geeta. Kishorilal and Geeta toil hard to ensure that Prakash gets a good education so that he can study in America, return home, and repay the loans that the family has taken. Prakash does get to complete his studies, he also travels to America, upgrades, and returns home to be employed as Kishorilal's boss. Then Prakash gets married to Reena, who comes from a wealthy family, and moves in with them. Geeta confides in Reena that she has met a young man by the name of Ranjit, both are in love and want to get married. The entire family is overjoyed, but their joys are short-lived when Ranjit's dad, Mayadas, asks him to get married to the daughter of a wealthy man, when he refuses, he is asked to leave.

Widowed multi-millionaire Sharda lives with an only son, Munna; she is also the proprietor of a factory called, "Sharda Chemicals". Sharda arranges Munna's marriage with the factory's general manager, Ratanmuni Gupta's daughter, Mamta who is currently pursuing studies at Lovedale College in Manori. On the day of the engagement, Mamta insults her dad, Munna, and Sharda in the presence of a huge gathering, so the marriage plans get canceled. Gupta then arranges to get Mamta married to wealthy Mrs. Modi's son Azad, but before the marriage Mamta gets pregnant by a man disguised as Azad, and Mrs. Modi cancels the wedding plans. Gupta began to face many business challenges; Munna actually survived the murder attempt and is out to destroy Gupta and the others.

A group of people of Indian origin live on an Island which contains a tomb of Shahenshah Chandi Sona which is believed to contain jewelry, diamonds, and gold. Mayur and Rita, stage actor love-birds, plot with Amar to steal this wealth and better their lives. They decide to buy a house from a woman named Mayadevi, and after doing so they decide to make a swimming pool and through that dig a tunnel right underneath the tomb and help themselves to the riches that they find there. They also decide to enlist the help of four jailbirds by dramatically helping them to escape from prison. After the completion of the tunnel, they run into an underground pool of water and enlist the help of undersea divers Bikram and Sharma.

Rosie Perreira is an overly anxious widow, living with her guitar-obsessed son, Sabhi, and a lovely daughter, Nancy, who she would like to get married to a wealthy young man. Her helpful neighbor, Tom, introduces a young eligible Tony Braganza to Nancy in the 9:10 AM Western Railway local train from Bandra to Churchgate. Tom also asks Nancy to introduce Tony to Rosie, which she does. And soon Rosie starts looking elsewhere for a son-in-law, while Tony is still reluctant to make any commitments.

Kamli belongs to a poor family. She sells datuns for a living. She sells them in local suburban trains as well as on railway platforms. Rashi with her friend Neeta "Aruna Irani" starts living in that flat pretending to be owners of the flat. Then starts the roller coaster ride of complex and comical situations.
