It is a travel diary that shows Italy from north to south, through movie theatres; television-addicted kids; Berlusconi and Fellini; shopping centers; TV news editors; stories of impassioned film exhibitors and directors who fight for their films; and interviews with itinerant projectionists and great European directors.

Abandoned by his own parents, Cristiano will assume his responsibilities and will leave with the child to know Milan, the city he lives in and its people.

Carla, a lonely forty-year-old child psychiatrist, devotes all her time to her job. One day a man appears and gradually gets into her life. He tells her he is the lover of Nina, her estranged sister.

Teo, a student in Astrophysics, shares an apartment with his girlfriend, Carla, who is also a student. One evening, while he is absent-mindedly crossing the road, he is knocked down by a car. At the wheel of the car is Mavi, a girl originally from Spalato, who came to Italy with her father when she was a little girl. Teo is lying on the ground, injured, and Mavi helps him, before disappearing without a trace. The two characters meet again by chance some time later and a strong and deep bond forms between them.
