Israel, 1956: Jewish teacher Rachel Stein rather unexpectedly meets an old friend at the kibbutz. It brings back memories of her experiences in the Netherlands during the war, memories of betrayal. In September 1944, Rachel's hiding place is bombed by Allied troops; she makes contact with a resistance member and joins a group of Jews to be smuggled across the Biesbosch to the freed South Netherlands. Only Rachel escapes a massacre by patrol Germans, and is rescued by a resistance group under the leadership of Gerben Kuipers, whose son is captured trying to smuggle weapons. Kuipers asks Rachel to seduce SS-hauptsturmführer Ludwig Müntze, a mission that she will soon learn that the boat attack wasn't a coincidence.

He is known for his often mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints. These feature impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, architecture, and tessellations.

After being chased from her uncle's home by her scolding aunt, the young Mariken wanders outside of town and encounters Moenen, the devil disguised as a one-eyed, itinerant scholar, who offers to teach her magic and the seven liberal arts in return for her submission.

Over the years, filmmaker Jan Bosdriesz collected curious souvenirs from various countries that he cherishes. He wonders about their history. Among his favourite items are the Russian LPs by Pyotr Leschenko from the 1930s that he once inherited from his father. While Bosdriesz travels to Russia to learn more about the life of the singer whose music was forbidden in Soviet Russia, the turbulent history of the filmmaker's family is also addressed. During his trip, Bosdriesz talks to people who knew Leschenko.

Een verhaal met een echte held, met een van weinig woorden, goed in het pak, recht door zee, ijzersterk en watervlug: judoka-detective Dick Bos! De zwart-wit boekjes werden na de eerste publicatie door honderdduizenden ademloos gelezen. De documentaire gaat op zoek naar het succes van de boekjes en naar de bedenker van de stripheld. Alfred Mazure (1925 – 1974) vereeuwigde de avonturen van zijn stripheld niet alleen in de Dick Bos boekjes maar ook in drie live-action en twee animatiefilms. Ook gaat de documentaire over de echte Dick-Bos fans, waaronder filmer Paul Verhoeven, die de reeks van 73 Dick Bos boekjes compleet bezit. Bij sommige scènes van zijn beroemde films zoals Soldaat van Oranje en Basic Instinct liet Paul Verhoeven zich inspireren door passages uit de boeken van Dick Bos.
