Don Armingo, a member of the Secret Service, is inspired while dancing the tango to join a group of smugglers at the Mexican border. As he is about to make the arrest, they take flight, kidnapping Don's sweetheart. Following in his airplane, he circles above the getaway car and plucks the girl from the tonneau cover just as it speeds over an embankment.

Depury sheriff Ned Williams is sent to capture a cattle thief in the area. The thief turns out to be a young woman, Betty Howard, who steals to keep her young siblings form starving to death and their hardscrabble homestead after the father has died. Buck Kelly, an enemy of Ned's, frames him and abducts Betty.

Intent on avenging his father's murder, Roy Neal and his sidekick Rusty find themselves in the border town of Gladstone where Neal is mistakenly arrested for the robbery of a mail truck. After escaping, Neal joins up with pretty June Bowers whose father has apparently also been murdered. Neal, suspecting two of the town's leading businessmen of being the murderers, tries to flush them out before the sheriff can lock him up again.

After robbing a small suburban bank, a gang of outlaws led by Bill Kilgore hides out in the neighboring town of Red Rock. Failing to interest Carmen Harroway by his rough romantic attentions, Kilgore forbids the terrorized townspeople to patronize her small confectionery store. A stranger, Bob Vincent, appears in town and, after becoming friendly with Carmen, inexplicably joins Kilgore's gang, passing himself off as a forger.

Jack arrives at the local cafe and learns the identity of the outlaw gang and June's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Jack has rescued a child whose parents have been killed while crossing the prairie to stake out a homestead.
