The fire department is preparing for the New Year. Three activists of amateur performances decide to kidnap professional artists for a New Year's concert. A police captain investigates the kidnapping and listens to complaints from the “unkidnapped” artists.

Among the guests are cosmonauts Gagarin, Belyaev and Leonov.

The film uses fragments of feature films and materials of the Gosfilmofond of the Russian Federation. In addition to the actors listed above, the following actors tell about the composer: directors Grigory Alexandrov and Ivan Pyriev, songwriters Mikhail Matusovsky and Vasily Lebedev-Kumach.
