Synopsis
In 1914, a novelist is declared unfit for service but he regards it his duty to plow the land that others defend. The farmer that he helps leaves for the front after entrusting his fiancée and his estate to his care. The young woman loves the writer but does not yield to his desire. When the young peasant comes back, he is disabled but he finds his sweetheart untarnished and his land flourishing. His mission accomplished, the novelist can go back to town.
