Henry Rollins: Live and Ripped in London
Synopsis
Actor and former lead singer of Black Flag, Henry Rollins, performs during his spoken-word tour before a London audience.
Saga: Henry Rollins Spoken Word Collection

Henry Rollins is best known as the former frontman of the hardcore punk outfit Black Flag, as well as the equally hard-hitting Rollins Band. This movie captures his unique brand of spoken word. Henry Rollins Goes to London is the second performance in a two-disc set and was recorded live on February 14 and 15, 1993, at the Astoria Theater. The first performance in the set, "Henry Rollins: Talking From the Box" was recorded on May 28, 1992, at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Rollins shares his personal experiences and speaks his mind on politics, crime, sex, and relationships.

Two months of performances at the Hollywood nightclub Luna Park result in this dynamic collection of spoken word highlights. Henry Rollins was challenged to appear one night a week for two months and give a different performance each time - a lot of stories to tell when you realize that Henry has a reputation for regularly speaking for almost three hours a performance!

Henry Rollins has more than ever to rant about in this performance from his recent Shock & Awe Tour, its title irreverently inspired by George Bush's early predictions of the Iraqi War's impact. With all the ferocious energy of his days as a front man for the punk group Black Flag, Rollins scathingly draws observations from his recent USO tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He also tears across the American political and cultural landscape and ventures into more personal territory, talking about his eclectic career from music to books to TV and film, sharing his fascinating insights from traveling the world and revealing his hilariously unsuccessful search for love. Filmed at the Paramount Theater in Seattle on his spoken word tour.

Filmed at Melbourne's atmospheric Comedy Theatre, Rollins' latest spoken word show, Provoked, delivers the informed and unrestrained punch you've come to expect from the outspoken American iconoclast. Not afraid to give you his opinion on everything from the state of US politics, to rocking it out with gods of the punk rock scene, The Ruts, or hilarious tales of life in the LA party scene, This will leave you with no doubt that this is a man with plenty to say.

"The DVD is a live performance of me at the National Geographic Theater in Washington DC on February 13th, 2011, when I turned fifty. Ian MacKaye introduces me and I take it from there. It was a good night in a good theater with a fantastic audience. One of the parts I like about it is that we did some non performance footage of me going back to some of my old haunts in DC like the classic venue Madams Organ as well as a tour through my old job that I left in 1981. We are very happy to be able to bring this to all of you who were not able to go to the tour and pick it up there." -- Henry
