Ernesto and Filippo, two high school teachers, couldn’t be more different: Filippo is a cheerful liberal who is constantly online. Pauvres mais beaux

Fantozzi est un employé de bureau basique et stoïque. Il est en proie à un monde de difficultés qu’il ne surmonte jamais malgré tous ses efforts. Villagio interprète ces épisodes, basés sur des histoires de son propre livre, d’une manière que beaucoup comparent à Buster Keaton. Avec une production à petit budget, ce film était néanmoins extrêmement populaire en Italie.
Fantozzi: White Collar Blues

Pasquale Baudaffi, on amnesty, comes out of prison and starts looking for a job with the help of his cousin Gaetano. But first he goes to what was once a brothel, but, unbeknownst to our hapless hero, has been taken over and rented as a dental office. Pasquale finds himself at the center of endless misunderstandings. He tries to be a gamekeeper but that's not okay, he tries to be a waiter in a bar: he immediately gets his orders wrong and he is fired. His performance as a garage keeper was negative. The very latest experience is in an electronics company but its insertion into the futuristic mechanism triggers the craziest complications. The encounter with a lost dog allows him to get to know his mistress and thus discover the woman of his life.

Sous la forme de 20 sketches, Les monstres met en scène les « petites monstruosités » quotidiennes, les mesquineries et mensonges des stéréotypes italiens des années 1960. La charge critique de cette comédie italienne est assez forte et n’épargne rien ou personne, en particulier les institutions et pouvoirs comme le gouvernement (8), l’église (19), la justice (10) ou la télévision (18) à travers leurs représentants respectifs.
