Existence Flicker Symptom
Synopsis
Shichiri’s true debut film, made as a 16-year-old high school student. Selected by the 8th Pia Film Festival, where it was highly praised by filmmaker and juror Nagisa OSHIMA. A bizarre illness runs rampant throughout the country, causing the human body to flicker increasingly faster until it disappears entirely. To counter its effects, step aerobics are recommended. Questions pertaining to the meaning of the existence of the self and a depersonalized society are embodied in the mechanical repetition of stepping exercises.
