Synopsis
Documentary journey into the life and work of the artist William Turnbull widely recognized as one of the pioneers of modernism in Britain. In a life that has spanned an era from horse-drawn transport to the Internet, Beyond Time chronicles Turnbull's intimate involvement in the critical developments of modern art and explores his experiences in Paris, London and New York where he befriended and worked alongside artists like Alberto Giacometti, Richard Hamilton, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman. The film's distinguished cast pays homage to Turnbull's painting and sculpture and express their belief that he stands alongside the great masters of Twentieth Century art.
